So, our wings currently start in the closed position before the start of the match. We want to know how we can keep them extended when the robots go into coast mode at the end of the match without having them start extended. Thanks!
Pneumatics do not change state at the end of the match. They will stay in whatever state you set them to unless you stop your program.
Hello I am on the same team as 4073B I think he was asking how to keep the pistons extended when you shut off the program at the end of the match. Do you know how to do that?
There is no reason to shut your program off at the end of the match. You shouldn’t be doing anything really to your controller at the end of the match until the field is scored and referee says you can get your robot.
No, what OP meant was that at the end of the match, power is cut to the field, disabling electronics to allow scoring to happen. This means motors and pneumatics turn off. OP asked how to keep the pneumatics open after power is cut.
This is incorrect. While Motors do indeed “turn off” (they change to coast mode), pneumatics do not change their state at the end of the match because of the disabled signal. As I have stated several times, unless you stop your program, pneumatics will remain in the last state they were set to by your program after the field is disabled.
The pneumatics will stay just as they are after the end of the match. Go ahead and try it! Otherwise you would hear the air pressure being released at the end of the match.
