This is my first time using pneumatics and I was wondering if each piston requires its own solenoid? Also, can solenoids be y cabled into the cortex and would it be legal if it was possible?
A single solenoid can be connected to multiple air cylinders using t-fittings; therefore there is no real good reason to use a Y-cable, unless you like to spend money on solenoids. (Theoretically there will be a slight decrease in activation speed of the air cylinders, but practically this won’t show up unless 4 or 5 cylinders are t’d together.) The attached document may be helpful in addition to the instructions from VEX.
