Hello VEX community, I am having trouble with my Pneumatics kit on our robot. My team has the older pneumatics kit and it was working just fine the night before the Windsor tournament. Nobody has touched anything on our robot until I messed with it today. I have swapped the pipes, brain, controller, digital out cable, and the solenoid. We have also changed the code many times and nothing has worked. When the brain or the cable is disconnected it will open, but when connected they close. We have had our coach and some of our teams try and help and nobody knows what is happening like 79298C and 79298T. Anyways thanks for trying to help me.
try switching the tubing. For example unplug the one on top and plug it onto the one at the bottom. Then unplug the one at the bottom and pug it onto the top
Sorry, but I don’t really understand.
Oh I understand now. But I have already tried doing that and it just swapped if it opens or closes when the brain turns off. Thanks for trying to help though.
I’m not sure I understand. Is the brain just unable to control the solenoid via the 3-Wire Port?
Hey, we have the same problem too , and also don’t know how to fix it
Well I myself can’t figure out a direct pinpoint on what the problem is but I have swapped out a top of stuff and nothing has changed. It’s mainly the controller won’t work no matter what button is in the code.
It’s a very annoying problem but I can’t find anything on it so that’s why I made this post so if I get a solution I’ll reply to you again.
This seems really frustrating. I personally don’t know much on what to do for this. But try and check if the system parts you swapped out are supposed to work with your older pneumatics.
I have checked everything and it’s all the same. But thanks for the idea.
It’s (When controller1 X pressed. Set DigitalOut B high.) and (When controller1 Y pressed. Set DigitalOut B low).
I made this code right now because I accidentally reset the old code. So this might not be 100% accurate.
Wow, that is really weird that your pneumatics aren’t working because that code is fine. I have two other ideas to help one is that the solenoid is plugged into the wrong port which I have done many times. Another idea that goes along with it is to program it to different ports or change the solenoid driver cable itself. One final thing that might be worth it is to try to test the setup you have with another brain and see if that could somehow be the issue.
Hope this helps sorry if it doesn’t.
We were using a 2023 brain with a new update and it didn’t work then we switched to a 2019 brain and it worked
You need to switch the fittings around on your solenoid, the robot automatically starts with them in the “low” mode, if your fitting is incorrectly placed in the “high” mode, it will extend. Switch your fittings on the solenoid!
Sorry, but this is confusing me. What do you mean by the fittings? Is it the part that connects the pipe to the solenoid?
That’s strange. I don’t know how to tell what year the brain was used.
Thank you so much for trying to help, I will let my team know and we will work on it today.
Fittings are the parts that go into the piston
Here’s a VEX knowledge base article that will be helpful for you to learn the parts: https://kb.vex.com/hc/en-us/sections/4404197392404-Pneumatics
