I am planning on surrounding my robot with plastic sheets like many teams do for world but i dont know where to start. I would like to put our number, school, sponsor, etc on like a colored background of some sort. We have the plastic plates but we dont know how to do the fancy “Poster” like designs that many teams do for nationals/world. Can anybody help. Thx in advance.
What exactly are you struggling with? The actual design and aesthetics of the plate or how to actually put one together?
Also, on another note, I see two threads with the same text. Please delete one.
Step one: Use some dank-*** font for your team name and #.
Step two: Choose a dank-*** background color
Step three: Plaster that step one onto your step two.
Step four: Plaster sponsor stickers everywhere else
You can probably use most image processors to make a design you need (Gimp or even Photoshop if you have it). You may also want to look at using laminated paper for your design instead of polycarbonate for decreased cost.
Ask a local printing company, they will probably be able to print designs on the polycarbonate. You could also add them as one of your sponsors and maybe get the printing done for free.
Print on a sticker and apply that to the polycarbonate. Most printers should be able to do that
Rule R7
Non shattering plastic from the following list; polycarbonate, acetel monopolymer (Delrin),
acetal copolymer (Acetron GP), POM (acetal), ABS, PEEK, PET, HDPE, LDPE, Nylon (all
grades), Polypropylene, FEP; as cut from a single 12" x 24" sheet up to 0.070" thick.
i. Plastic can be mechanically altered by cutting, drilling or bending etc., but it cannot be
chemically treated, melted or cast. Teams may heat the polycarbonate to aid in
bending.
That’s just for functional plastics, side plates are non functional.
Use thick paper to print panels and then just laminate them instead of using a bunch of polycarb.
thx all
Hi
I think Printing Company will help you out of this.
I would NOT do this. If you want good results, get a professional company to print your design on a vinyl sticker
Sorry I meant a professional printer. Vinyl stickers look far more professional. We’ve gone crazy with these as of late… They look great. Some examples:
License plate stickers per team. It beats the single letter ones that come with the plates. You get that ransom note look when done in a hurry and not carefully placed.
Trophy labels for each tournament
Field sticker for you and sponsors (in the foreground on the field wall)
