I was wondering if it matters what ports you chose for motors on the IQ brain. I know that on the VEX cortex motor ports 1-5 and 6-10 are fused separately, and it’s best to split your drive motors so one is plugged into the first five and the other is plugged into the second five. Is there anything similar to this with the IQ? I’ve noticed the i2c errors are grouped in threes 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12. Is it best to distribute your motors across these groups? or does it not make a difference.
Yes, the VEX IQ Robot Brain is broken down into four port groups (1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12). Each of these port groups has an internal PTC fuse to protect the sensitive electronics from a short circuit.
The electrical current usage of all VEX IQ devices (including the Smart Motors) is significantly lower than both the 2-Wire 269 and 393 Motors.
For normal use you should never need to split VEX IQ Smart Motors across the port groups, so feel free to plug in any motor to any port that is convenient.
Cool, thanks for the info.
