Hello
Just for clarification I did watch the referee training videos and still just wanted some clarification, any help would be greatly appreciated.
If my robot were to drive into 3 caps like this with the intent to move them, in either scenario is this considered possession of more than one cap?
In both of these scenarios I feel like you are not qualified as any of the three definitions because you are simply just pushing them.
What do you think?

correct, if your robot turns, and the caps wouldn’t turn with it, then that wouldn’t be possession.

Let’s look up some of the rules regarding posession

Possession – A Game Object status. A Robot has Possession of a Game Object if it is carrying,
holding, or encompassing it. See rule <SG4> for details on Possession limits.

<SG4> Watch your Possession limit. Robots may Possess a maximum of one (1) Cap and two (2)
Balls at a time.
Note: Robots that interact with High Scored Caps while already Possessing a Cap will undergo
additional scrutiny regarding this rule.
Minor violations of this rule that do not affect the Match will result in a warning. Match Affecting
offenses will result in a Disqualification. Teams that receive multiple warnings may also receive a
Disqualification at the Head Referee’s discretion.

According to the rules, this would be a legal strategy. But, you will have to be aware of the hoarding rule as stated below:

Hoarding – A Robot status. A Robot is Hoarding if it is actively blocking opposing Robot access to
more than two (2) Balls, or more than one (1) Cap, in any of the four (4) corners of the field (i.e.
positioned in the corner roughly the size of one foam field tile). See <SG5>
