My team, 9147, is looking to host a few scrimmages before the competition season. We are located in Tyler, TX (2 hours from Dallas). If anyone is interested, we’ll schedule some events!
Edit: In case anyone is interested, we are 80 miles from greenville. The average drive time is ~1 1/2 hours
I would be very interested in doing something like this, if you can get get enough interest together to hold something around the end of summer i know i would attend!
At the moment, we have no logistics in place. I’m just asking around to see if there is any interest. If we can get at least five more teams to show some interest, I think we’ll set a date.
Would people want to have a by-the-book mock-competition, or would people be more interested in a scrimmage/meet-up in which we have a more casual schedule and we spend more time conversing strategies, synergising, etc?
A mock-competition would be great if people are trying to simulate the actual tournament. A scrimmage/meet-up would be better if people are looking to bounce ideas at other people and see how other teams are playing.
Either way, we’ll see if we can pull together an event!
i think that this early in the season in a state as big as Texas a more idea based event/less formal would work the best, i mean there were like 20-30 actual events in Texas for toss up, having a scrimmage with a more casual set up where we maybe play some matches but really spend more time just talking about strategy and mechanisms that we might have not all thought of would be the most adventitious
We have a field set up in our garage along with a tournament manager computer and field monitor. We may travel east to get a change of taste but will likely scrimmage with teams in the Rockwall/Greenville/Garland area.
