Pre-balancing Mobile Goals?

Would you be allowed to grab as many mobile goals as possible within the autonomous period and balance them so that they are setup for the 40 points in endgame as well as any loading? Or is it similar to FTC where any objective listed under endgame must be done only during endgame time.

Welcome to the forums.

For any question about the legality of something, we must turn to the game manual (or the Official Q&A). As you read the game manual (http://link.vex.com/docs/21-22/vrc/tipping-point/Game-Manual), keep in mind that the game manual tells you things that you MUST do, and things that you are PROHIBITED from doing. It can’t tell you everything you might do, so if the game manual does not prohibit an action, then it is legal.

If you still have some questions after reading the manual, feel free to post

Yes that is legal, but of course they won’t give the 40 points bonus for determining who won the autonomous period. (From my interpretation,) They do however still count as +20 points for being in the home zone. The key snippets from the manual about this are:

“When determining the Autonomous Bonus, Mobile Goals and Rings should both be considered Scored at the end of the Autonomous Period exactly the same as they would be at the end of the Driver Controlled Period.
The Platform should not be included in this scoring calculation (i.e. no additional points are received for Elevated Mobile Goals and/or Robots at the end of the Autonomous Period).”

“An Elevated Mobile Goal does not also
receive points for being Scored in an
Alliance Home Zone.”

and

“Elevated - A Robot and / or Mobile Goal state. A Robot or Mobile Goal is considered Elevated if all of the following criteria are met at the end of a Match:”

The first two snippets indicate that an Elevated mobile goal would count for zero points during autonomous, and would not give +20 points for being in the home zone, meaning that you would lose points by putting goals onto the platform. However, the definition of Elevated requires it to be at the end of the match, meaning that mobile goals can’t be considered Elevated during autonomous, letting them still count as +20 points.

In the hypothetical scenario where a robot is on a balanced platform, and is holding a mobile goal fully outside of the field (without touching the field wall or the floor), the goal would give +40 points at the end of the match but would give zero during auton.

Honestly, this isn’t a bad Idea.
How about a bot replies with this anytime a thread is started that contains the words “is it legal” or “are we allowed to”, and especially if it comes from a new poster. It should also link This: 2021-22 game Tipping Point - read me first!, or the a newer version. Linking the QnA might be a good Idea, too.
