I know, but it’s really not that practical. I think there is one robot in IN that is 18" tall and can still get under the bar. It isn’t very efficient.

Somehow I feel like the GDC will design a game that is (A) Easy for New teams to complete all objectives, (B) Include more challenges that more advanced teams can accomplish, and (C) Not cooperative , unlike FRC. Meaning that the game will most likely be simple.
I also feel somewhere in my mind that 12" isn’t low enough, and 24"/40" isn’t tall enough. I also believe that the size limit would never change due to (A) the tiles are big enough for a single robot, and increasing this would require the changing of the field which i feel VEX Dosen’t want to do, and (B) the longest piece is 17.5", and increasing the size would require redesigning the whole structure system.
I would really like a game that had 2-3 objects again, they allow for more creative ideas, and solutions.
HEY VEX, WATERPROOF ELECTRONICS, AND A WATER GAME WOULD BE COOL, AND CHALLENGING!!!
Much of this has been said before, but here are what I have been thinking about for the next game. I think that height will not be limited next year, but I think it will also not be a limiting to the same extent. In other words it won’t be about lifting things really high as per Toss Up and Gateway. I expect that the scoring objects will be difficult to handle and scoring will require more of the precision of round up than the strength of sack attack, height of toss up and gateway or the intake volume of gateway and Clean Sweep. I would not be surprised to see the isolation of clean sweep and gateway or the owning, doubling and negating of round up, gateway and hangin’ around (though not as extreme). I expect repositioning to stay (just be glad it is not gateway), though I hope the time is increased and or the bonus has the weight it does this year. Generally, there are a lot of things that they have gone back and forth on over the years and compromised this year, so I think they have a lot of options. One thing I have been thinking about I would love to hear them try is a field separated in two by a clean sweep style barrier, but where the scoring objects fit into and through the barrier in various ways that generate indirect interaction.
If I remember correctly, there were no starting tiles in Clean Sweep, you just had to start along the back wall.
There were definitely starting tiles in clean sweep. I think you might have only had to touch them though, didn’t have to be fully inside.
None here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpF7CaT3Hpg anyways, some event hosts would need new gray tiles if the red were removed.
Hmm. I revoke my previous statement. I just remember there being not much of a point in starting anywhere but in front of the two pyloned footballs as a rookie team with a zip tied together robot.
I was talking to some other members in our club and we envisioned starting tiles in the middle of the field lol. Maybe even the alliance station in the middle. Highly improbable, but still an idea.
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd someone already mentioned the water game idea. We’re off.
Let’s play with a non-round game object. The last game of that sort was Elevation.
If someone wants to make the VEX version of Overdrive, I’ll laugh.
I highly doubt there would be anything involving shooting as the main scoring method, as it would be too difficult for rookie teams. However, something like toss up where shooting is a possible solution would also be interesting.
so,
my team is out for the season and can’t wait for next seasons game.
anyone have a hunch, guess, or prediction for the 2014-2015 game?
Thanks

This is the third topic on the new game. No one has any definitive information. If you want to see what people are thinking, check them out.
of course no one has any info
just guesses
so what is your guess…
I would like to point at that last year a game was predicted that almost perfectly predicted toss up.
Hanging Bar
2 size balls
and so on
or more like it
what do you guys want to keep from toss up
and what do you want to get rid of?
I forget where, but I think I heard that the GDC designs the 2015 game early in the 2014 season (maybe even in the year 2013).
If that is correct, they probably changed next year’s game based on what they saw of Sack Attack at Worlds.
I don’t think the GDC copies the previous game at all.
My guess is:
No height limit (other than 18" obviously)
Minimal floor scoring
No hanging, no parking
Neutral game pieces, colored goals, easier to descore than this Toss Up
One type of scoring object.
I really want foam pieces.
I am hoping for 4-inch tall foam regular tetrahedrons and 4-inch tall foam stellated octahedrons.
How am I going to use a roller to intake that.
They do look cool though.
I would like to be surprised, that is about it, so I can spend another year working on some totally new problem.
That would be really fun. Our first season was in gateway and we didn’t do that good. Those huge robots would help teams innovate more!
On the other hand, more obstacles would also might be cool. More strategy could make teams with decent robots and less funding stand out above people with lots of funding. This kind of separates the price barrier for some teams allowing the. To do better!
With autonomous I hope it will be longer. This year autonomous can and usually will majorly affect a match and I want to see the programmers getting more credit for the outcome of a match.
Yes, because designs in Gateway were so innovative by Worlds…
Innovation will not be caused by giving teams back the full 18" box (which I remind you isn’t actually gone, and is being used by at least a few of us), but by making a game so complex it is physically impossible to do it all with 10 motors and pneumatics. What that looks like, I haven’t the slightest clue. Minibots, perhaps, could pose a really interesting challenge. FRC did them at least one year, where they had to climb a post at the end of the match. Maybe use the VEX IQ kit, and count those motors against your limit? It would require teams to make a choice on what they want to build.
I want triangular prisms, odd shapes never used before. I want neutral goals, and alliance colored objects. But you should get points for owning a goal.
