My class uses VEX IQ robots and code with VEX Code Blocks on Chromebooks. We have been able to download our codes with no problems until today. Every student had the following problem today: they had a code they wanted to download to the robot but the download button would not allow them to click so they could not download. It didn’t matter which Chromebook, which code, which cable, etc. Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?
We’re investigating this issue. It looks like something in the latest version of ChromeOS (Chrome 85) released yesterday is causing issues with VEXcode.
We found the root cause of the issue. It’s a low-level serial communication issue in ChromeOS introduced with ChromeOS 85.

Good news is that it’s already fixed for a future ChromeOS update (tested on Chrome 86 on the Dev channel, and everything works fine there)… however that doesn’t solve the problem with Chrome 85. We’re investigating how we can work around the issue in the interim and working to get a patch update ASAP to mitigate this ChromeOS bug.
@woodv - We’ve resolved and workaround the ChromeOS bug and submitted updated VEXcode IQ and VEXcode V5 builds to the Google Chrome Store.
Once those updates are approved by Google, the software should be automatically updated next time you launch VEXcode IQ / VEXcode V5 on a Chromebook.
Typically Google Chrome Store review turnaround is about 24 hours, so the fixed build should be available tomorrow morning.
