Programming Kit(s)

Now Vexlabs has raised the price of the easyC programming kit to $129 dollars
and has released a RobotC and MPLAB IDE Programing kit

good expansion but why the price change of the easyC progrmaming kit?

“Standard Market Dynamics” apply…

(This is a guess, I don’t know that it is true…)
The easyC programming kit at $99 dollars was being sold at a small Profit or even a Loss. The Price Increase would then Increase the Profit or Negate the Loss.

true, i didnt really think about that, i wonder how many hobbyists actually buy the programming kit?

I have a v1 programming kit (as a hobbyist).

I applaud this move by Vex Labs to make the system less “locked-in”.

One of the things I’ve liked about the Vex system is that, while it isn’t completely open (MASTER source code isn’t released), there is enough specifications and open USER code to make it do pretty much anything with it.

Hey,

Science Olympiad competitors would buy an easyC programming kit for their robot to make it completely autonomous for various events. An example may be, “Electric Vehicle.”

Fallix:)

As long as the Vex is used for FIRST and other competitions, I don’t think that IFI wants the Master Code available… The Master Code lets there be a Supervisor Mode, beyond control of ALL the Players…
