I was hoping to get some information on the programming port on the VexNET controller. Specifically when and how does it communicate with the robot?
Also, when the VexNET joystick is locked out by the field controller, is the programming port communication also cut?
115k baud, data gets passed via the master cpu to USART1 (or 0 depending on terminology) of the user cpu. EasyC and ROBOTC use it for communicating with their own code but you can reconfigure it for your own use. See this post.
It’s TTL levels so do not connect directly to a RS232 port. “special” commands are picked up by the master processor and are used to put the user processor into boot load mode as well as other things.
