I have been using RobotC for 4+ years, and just started using PROS this year (primarily because I prefer Linux and its tools). I have found it to be an outstanding option, with substantial community, documentation, and developer support (they helped me get it running on my Arch machine!). I was just wondering if we could consider asking VEX to add it to the bottom of this page for more advanced users to discover - I know I would have liked to find it earlier…
+1
I would like this too – PROS deserves the attention.
But I doubt it will happen in the foreseeable future; the options listed on that page are probably there due to some partnership/contract/etc.
I highly doubt VEX officials are [still] oblivious to the existence and increasing popularity of PROS. If the listed programming options were not based on business interests, MATLAB probably wouldn’t be listed and PROS would.
This is probably true. I did notice that they used bootstrap for the webpage, and made a quick drop-in replacement I may send them, however, just to see:

I think the text under the logo should read Purdue Robotics Operating System, not PROS.
We actually know that VEX is not unaware of the PROS team, mainly because they are working with them for 0-day V5 compatibility with PROS (the team is under an NDA, don’t even try)
You are correct. There are even some on the development team who do not have the info on V5. They are taking their obligation very seriously.
Correct. We have to keep in mind that Vex is a FOR PROFIT business. I do not see the people at PROS paying the $$ to get listed. I do not see Vex listing them out of the kindness.
At this point, PROS may be the only way to program in C on the Vex platform.
Well, not the ONLY way, but the ONLY competition-ready way
Good point. I am not aware of non-competition ways to program the cortex in C but I imagine they exist.
For competition, though, it is the only way to program in C.
Not the only way, ConVEX is still available but I don’t push it anymore due to my relationship with VEX.
Why would we say challenge accepted if we couldn’t deliver? Even alumni from the original dev team are back from industry to assist.
With that, the PROS dev team is working with VEX to support V5 at launch. As details become available we will be sure to share them but not a moment sooner.
I interpreted the “challenge” as being not quite 0-day, but more like usable-enough-in-20-days.
I’m very excited to know that 0-day is happening!
Nice!
