So my team plans to use 2 25mm pneumatic pistons for a pto on our drivetrain. However, if we are switching a lot during a match I don’t want to run out of air so I know I want to have the pressure regulated lower than a hundred. It would have its own tank and I was thinking 75 psi but I wanted to know what you guys thought.
Vex has pressure regulators. So you can regulate max piston psi to like 50psi and still have the tank at 100. Also ot would be smart to give your pto its own tank. But if you only fill to 75 then ur not getting as much air as if you filled to 100.
Well, does the PTO need that much strength? Since all it has to do is move a gear (nothing that requires strength like a pull-up climb), 75 psi might be a little overkill… (I would do around 40 psi)
However, your bot is your (hopefully) unique creation, so I would encourage you to test out various pressures until you find one that works. A pic might help though so I can see how much pressure is on the gear.
Okay thanks you guys i knew that the pto would probably need its own tank but i will defintely used the pressure regulator but mainly test the different pressures like @Gigahertz.t said.
