Push Back Color Sort

Does anyone have any ideas for how color sort could work? Because we can pick up a mass amount of blocks and needing to have a storage system, Would we have a section to push out the opposite color?

I believe there are sensors that you could add onto your robot and you can program the sensors to see which color and maybe have something to push out the other teams ball but you might have to make two separate codes just for that to work but I don’t really know.

Look at Change Up bots. There were lots that used two motors on a vertical roller intake system. Possible to rotate a set of rollers together to lift a ball, and opposite to eject it.

Some of the reveal videos this year show a similar approach.

A few ideas:

  1. Maybe we could use a Pneumatic system to push out the block (scoring element) to the side, where it is open
  2. Continue moving the intake, but to a separate storage system for the opposite color, so the opposite alliance cannot score
  3. Possibly we could shoot it somewhere fast similar to how the meta color sort was in High Stakes
  4. Use a hood and spit it at your wheels

These are just some ideas, and probably not what my team is going to use, but idk maybe it will work

Yes, I have seen a video of this. It has an extra intake roller that ejects any octoballs of a different color into another compartment, while keeping that of the right color. This is accomplished by using a color sensor, and coding it to get rid of any of the wrong color while sparing the good color.

I understand about the color sensors and have used them for the high stakes season, but I was just wondering how we could put that into use when using a storage system.

Change up robots mastered this art. I recommend you check some of them out!
