Does winning teams from competitions held in Hawaii qualifies teams to attend the Championship of the Americas in April?
Yes, the top teams from the various Hawaii competitions qualify for the VEX Robotics World Championship and the Championship of the Americas.
To clarify the qualifying details for all official VRC events:
These teams qualify for both the VEX Robotics World Championship AND the VEX Robotics Championship of the Americas:
Each team on the Elevation Tournament winning alliance (2 or 3 teams)
Excellence Award winning team
1st place Robot Skills and/or Programming Skills team (if held at event)
In addition, the following teams at all official VEX Robotics Competition events qualify for the Championship of the Americas:
Each team on the Elevation Tournament finalist alliance (2 or 3 teams)
2nd place Robot Skills and/or Programming Skills team (if held at event)
What impact does the Championship of the Americas have on Worlds? It is my understanding that all semifinalists there qualify.
At the Championship of the Americas there will be a minimum of 16 opportunities to qualify for the VEX World Championship. These spots will include the Event Champions, Event Finalists, the top teams from the Robot Skills & Programming Skills Challenges, and the Excellence Award winners. Details on additional opportunities to qualify won’t be finalized until we get closer to the event.
