Qualifying for Regionals

Teamwork champions of a qualifying league qualifies for Regionals. What happens if the teamwork champions already qualified through a different tournament. Do the 2nd place teamwork teams qualify for regionals instead?

Depends on region. Check robot events

This is coming from a region in Indiana…

If you qualify from a different event, it does not matter. The teamwork champions can double qualify for state/regionals.
However, if they qualified at the SAME event twice (winning teamwork, and another state qualifying judged award such as Excellence), then they give the state bid to the top in skills who is NOT already qualified for state.

So to answer your question… No, 2nd place teamwork teams do not qualify instead.

Information about what does/doesn’t qualify can be found in the RECF Qualifying Criteria: https://kb.roboticseducation.org/hc/en-us/articles/5474199602071-Qualifying-Criteria-for-VEX-Robotics-Competition-Events

As @RoboterMoter said, if teams double qualify for an event region championship, then the qualification spot will be given to the next highest team on the (tournament) robot skills ranking. However, if the next team on the skills ranking has already qualified as well then the qualification spot is not awarded at the tournament and instead at the end of the season and NOT to the next non-qualified team, as suggested.

While there may be some exceptions (cough cough China RSMs), double qualifications are pretty much consistently awarded based on skills ranking and never qualification or finals rankings.
