Question about autodesk inventor and dual gtx 1080's

I recently got my 8 core cpu stable at 5ghz (overclocked) and I realised my gpu is my main bottleneck (The library I use has sketches on all the surfaces of metal parts that outline the whole part, and once I finished modeling half a robot, I was getting ~15 fps on a gtx 970), so I went out and bought two gtx 1080’s. My question is when running inventor, is it better to use an SLI bridge? Or should I have them run independently?

And over here I’m CADding with my sweet integrated graphics card…

Specs?

Bad. It’s not a discrete graphics card.

Oh, rip. Any ideas on my actual question though?

Isn’t dual GTX 1080 a little overboard? Might as well consider Quaddro unless you’re into gaming. I’m happy with my 970 CADing.

I can cad just fine on an Intel HD 5500 hahaha, seriously, if anything’s holding you back while doing CAD it’s RAM

Ah, well I was running 16gb, and also bought 6gb more (24 gb total), so if it was an issue, its probably fixed now

There’s no reason why you need an insane setup to run inventor for VEX. Depending on what you’re doing, your “main bottleneck” is probably actually accessing storage - or better yet just your familiarity/proficiency with the program in general.

SLI… I don’t see why it would hurt…

So I should get an ssd?

Quaddro’s don’t run crysis 3 at 4k :frowning:

Lol I don’t think you’re making this conversation to talk about autodesk, are you? (I’m joking)
In my opinion it shouldn’t matter, even with a videocard that good. I usually work on autodesk with a little 4GB RAM PC at school, and yet it does the job(It only runs about 1-3 tasks at once). The main question is why were you having such low framerate? Have you tried stopping unnecessary programs? If you are not able to, I suggest adding more CPU to your computer.

Get 4 and set them up in RAID0. 1 pair for programs and OS (ie inventor & windows) and the other pair for media files (in this case your part/assembly files).

Got it

I only was running Skype, Google chrome, and inventor. It runs fine when I turn off visibility for sketches.

Uhhh, you mean ram?

I’ll make a vid of it running terribly

Kill Cortana. She eats unnessary ram on your computer
