Question re VEX IQ Programming

Hello,

This is our first year competing in the VEX IQ challenge. At the moment I have my class assembling the template robot to learn the assembly process. They will then take it apart and build their own version (hopefully!).

I have a couple of questions regarding the programming section of the project…apologies if these are simplistic but am a bit confused/not sure where to start

  1. Will my programmers be able to start programming the robot in Robot C as it is being built or is this unrealistic? Will I need to wait for the robot to be basically “built”. I’m worried that if this is the case, the programming will be a real rush job at the end.

  2. A couple of my programmers have experience with Robot C but others have none (including me). Does anyone know a good resource/ online tutorial for us?!

Again apologies if these are basic questions and thanks for your patience.

It’s harder to program the robot without having a robot. Luckily, the standard build is really quick and the students can build it and use it to start programming quickly. Here is a good resource to learn the programming: Introduction to Programming: VEX IQ

Thanks for the reply. In your experience, once we get our robot built, is 3-4 weeks enough time to get the programming done (assuming the students do a little bit every day.)? Hopefully this would allow for testing etc to be done afterwards

Yes, 3-4 weeks is enough time to get programming done, if they are working on it every day.
