<R24> (Licence Plate question)

states: Officially registered Team numbers must be displayed on Robot license plates. To participate in an official VEX Robotics Competition event, a Team must first register on robotevents.com and
receive a VRC Team number.
This Team number must be displayed on a minimum of two (2) sides of the Robot using license plates.
Teams may choose to use the official VRC License Plate Kit, or may create their own.

At a recent competition, there was a team who arrived late to the match with the wrong plates, they switched them on the field, but were only able to mount one license plate, onto one side. Violating (a minimum of two plates one per side) Our advisors brought it up to the match referee, who then said that as long as he could see the plate on one side it was legal. We did not want to argue with the referee over a small issue so we elected to let it go. However, for future matches, if it were to happen again, would the team in violation of be subject to a penalty by the referee’s discretion if the referee had called it?

Pro tip, don’t be that team. What do you gain? Having the adult approach the Head Referee is not a student-centered conduct.

The referee handled it by the book - explained he that he could clearly identify the robot, so a minor infraction and had likely warned the team about need for plates to be on.

My recommendation, let it go.
