During rapid loading in skills can balls be rolled to robots or must they be placed down then the drives forward to collect them?

There are no rules prohibiting this, check out SG5 in the game manual for more info. If says :
Note 2: Although it is not required, placing the Ball gently down onto the Field without any additional motion is highly recommended. Unorthodox strategies, such as “tossing” or “rolling” the
Ball, will not receive any “benefit of the doubt” if the Head Referee cannot clearly confirm that all
criteria have been met (especially clauses “B” and “D”).

Yeah, I was confused how people were interpreting rolling as legal but then I saw it and realized it absolutely would make autonomous MUCH easier! Fingers crossed they agree with that interpretation too.

TLDR: The scenario I described IS LEGAL; however, do it at your own risk as it will be open to interpretation by the Head Referee. as to whether or not it violates Note 2.
This seems like something that would be best mentioned to the Head Referee before you start your run so that there is maximum clarity on what you’ll be doing. I wonder if it would make sense to put an audio queue into your code when the robot enters Starting Zone 2 and is ready to receive the rapid load balls and a countdown/audio queue just before or when it starts to reverse out?
