Reading Smart Motor Raw Encoder Value

Wondering how you can read the raw encoder value of a smart motor in VCS? I wanted the equivalent of RobotC’s SensorValue() rather than using the VCS motor function that just drives for a set distance. Also, what would what would you use to read a regular 3 wire quadrature encoder?
