Recording Matches.

Are we allowed to add a GoPro camera on the robot to record the matches?

Yes. It cannot transmit off the field, but you can save the footage to a memory card.

What do mean by it cannot transmit off the field?

Some cameras have the ability to send the footage they’re recording to a laptop or phone via wifi or some other signal. That would be illegal. You are, however, allowed to record the footage to a memory card on the camera and analyze it after the match.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m fairly certain that was Karthik’s ruling.

See the non-functional decoration rules in the manual.

Specifically:

Your camera would be considered non-functional so long as it is used in a way that doesn’t affect the outcome of a match.

Also:

This has been covered in greater detail in the Q&A’s but in general no form of RF communication is allowed anywhere near the fields. This is mostly to prevent interference with the VexNET, but it’s also to stop data from being transmitted to or from the robot. In Vex U the rules do allow for some non-RF data transmission means.
