Registering for More than 2 Showcase Events

As of right now, Showcase Events are struggling to get people to register. 1 Showcase event(Virginia) had to combine middle and high school and increase the limit to 5 teams per organization to fill its spots before the competition on 4/24. Every other showcase event(other than South Carolina) has more than 50% of its spots open 1 month after these events were posted. Would it be better to open up the events so that teams can register for multiple showcase events rather than run them with 9 teams(as it stands)?

I agree Mr. Pradhan. Thank you for your insightful views on this situation. I appreciate you.

To clarify the SC showcase has already combined the MS and HS divisions.

I agree Aryan. I think that is a great idea and a good way to reopen showcase.

Seems reasonable, these are meant to be the highest level in-person events available. It seems logical to allow teams to visit more than one to truly experience competition outside of a single given region. The current state makes choosing a showcase event difficult, and risky. Especially when considering that if you choose an event that never fills up, you may have lost out on another that you could’ve registered for.

Regardless of the ability for team lists to fill up, allowing teams to go to multiple showcases is the right decision.

I strongly agree, this would allow spots to fill up and teams to get much more experience this year…

I agree with this. This will allow higher quality teams to participate in what are meant to be higher quality events. It has been very clear that teams have not shown much interest in these events and this may be the perfect solution to reinvigorate this interest.

I thought it was a good time to get involved; this issue is very pertinent.

I agree with mr 2616J

This is actually the reason we aren’t going to kalahari. We were hoping to attend the kalahari showcase but we saw it only had around 10 teams registered after a couple weeks, so we registered for Virginia instead.

I agree with you, Mr. Pradhan. Very insightful solution to a quite serious problem plaguing the very competitive teams

i think the problem is that they are essentially postseason events with $300 registration fees.

I would consider signing up for a showcase, but I think I’ll be too preoccupied with the new VRC game to care about going to one.

Some of them, (the Omaha Nebraska one for sure) are actually before the game reveal.

I agree with Aryan, I worry that my last competition before I graduate will be cancelled due to a lack of registrations, so it would be really nice to be able to register for more than one as a backup plan.

I agree. I too worry that my last competition before I graduate being canceled due to a lack of registrations, so it would reassuring to be able to register for more than one showcase event as a backup plan.

I definitely agree with this. A few of my teammates have already commented, but we are sincerely worried that our last competition (rumble in the Rockies ) will be canceled because not enough people signed up. Letting us sign up for more than one showcase event would be greatly appreciated.

I already started a thread on this (What happens if showcase events don’t fill? - #4 by MayorMonty), but I think this brings up some good points. I think allowing teams to register for multiple events is a cool idea, but i think that you should have to really worry about events not filling and being canceled.
