Return Values for Sensors

I’m in my second year with Vex and I’m trying to set up sensors for my autonomous program (I use easyC). If I set up sensors such as the ultrasonic sensor, potentiometer, or shaft encoder, it will return a value. Can anyone tell me what that value means (degrees, inches, etc.) for each sensor? Your help is very much appreciated.

Different sensors return different values that mean different things.
