Wow, somebody mentioned this the other day and I did not make the connection. I still use the rather ragged copy of my original “C programming language” occasionally.

I’m not surprised that you haven’t heard of him before. Few people have, given how his creations have gone on to transform the computer industry and by extension society.
I am surprised that you need us to tell you who he is. Try Googling him (or whatever your favorite search site is). Wikipedia is also a good place to look. Even reading the title of this thread will give you a basic idea of his contributions.

I got the Second “ANSI” Edition in 1988, for my first ‘C’ Programming class… This is THE BOOK to use for all things ‘C’…
My 1978 edition of K&R still sits on my shelf next to a few other classics.
