If we look at the timelines of Robosource still showing 0.18" after game manual release, and then updated to 0.176" a couple hours later in this thread , it is doubtful that GDC intended/cared to allow Robosource’s parts to remain legal, as stated below:
The fact that the game manual mentions both diameter and SHOULDER LENGTH (.200" max) tells me that GDC is aware of Robosurce screws and consciously made the decision to allow ALL the sizes of Robosource’s shoulder screws to remain legal while preventing the use of the larger diameter commercial-sized shoulder screws.
Sure, it is nitpicking, no big deal. But, it is one “screw” after another. We don’t have any VEXU team, so we have a ton of nylon screws that are just light paperweights. Environment be damned. Similarly for the pneumatics tubing. We have enough colors to make a rainbow jump rope. Again, it will end up in landfill for no good reason.
