Robot Base without a drivetrain

what are issues when we build a base for the robot without a drivetrain. i do know that maneuver may be issue if there are hurdles but just for moving around the field, is there a need for a drivetrain for the robot?

Uhh are you talking about direct drive (motors are connected directly to the wheels)?

yes, i have seen couple of robots in the competition with no gears and the back wheels are directly connected to motors.

is that a problem? seems like it was working fine without gears

it does just make sure their secure

A drivetrain is the base of the robot, also known as the chassis. The drivetrain consists of wheels and the motors.
