Robot isn't working as a whole

Have you tested another cortex. Sometimes you trip the ports because you are drawing too much power. Also if you could post the code.

Have you tested another cortex. Sometimes you trip the ports because you are drawing too much power. Also if you could post the code.

What exactly isnt working about it? Are your Vex Keys updated? are your controller and cortex connected to eachother?

what’s happening exactly?

Go ahead and post your code and give us some pictures and specifications of what is happening. Some troubleshooting steps to take in the meantime: (this assumes you have RobotC, otherwise, go to the last step and try that!)

Go ahead and connect your cortex to your PC:

  1. Make sure to check that you are in the right mode in RobotC,

Navigate to your RobotC navbar and got to “Robot” ->> “Vex Cortex Communication Mode”. Make sure this is on “Competition (VexNet)” and then power cycle your controller and cortex when they are disconnected from your computer.

  2. Now, while you are here, go ahead and upgrade the firmware for both the controller and the cortex to the latest versions.

Go to “Robot” ->> “Download Firmware” ->> “Automatically Update…”

  3. Now go to your robot and attempt to start it using your current code, using your two VexNet keys and the Robots battery. Look at the light indicators on top of the cortex and make sure they are all green (after a few seconds of loading)! Otherwise, go ahead and take a look at the beauty of this checklist and follow it to find the solution to any issues you may be having.

Update the firmware of both VEXnet keys, the utility can ensure that they’re both up to date. Do the same for the Cortex and the Joystick, pair the Cotrex/Joystick using the A-A cable. You’ll know they’ve paired because the GAME / JOYSTICK LED’s will go green.

Then plug in both VEXnet keys, make sure the joystick still works.

Download the default ROBOTC/PROS/easyC code to the Cortex, then download your own SIMPLE code. Something like a basic tele-op code.

Then (if the problem persists) come back to us with a more detailed description of what you did try and what symptoms you have.
