RobotC and Vex Firmware Update think our gyro sensors are color sensors

Our team is dead in the water. Please help!

Both RobotC and the firmware updater are showing that our gyro sensors are color sensors. How can I reboot these things?

Hi Jason,

We’re sorry that you have encountered this issue of mistaken sensor identity. This problem can be resolved by manually installing the Gyro Firmware into this sensor.

To do this, first disconnect all sensors from your Robot Brain except for the one Gyro Sensor that is showing up as a Color Sensor. Please connect the Gyro Sensor on Port 1, then connect your Robot Brain to your computer and open the VEX IQ Firmware Update Utility.

It is very important to ensure that the questionable Gyro Sensor is the only device connected to the Robot Brain for this next step.

Please download the attached “228-3014-Gyro-Sensor_v1_1.txt” file to a convienent location, such as your desktop. This is the current Gyro Sensor firmware file. Inside the VEX IQ Firmware Update Utility, please go to the top menu bar, then select Update > Update From File > All Color Sensors. Please browse to the Desktop and select the “228-3014-Gyro-Sensor_v1_1.txt” file.

Before you click the Open button, please double check to make sure you have the correct file selected. Once this is verified, please click on the Open button to download this firmware file into the Gyro Sensor. This will force the Gyro Sensor firmware back into the Gyro Sensor.

If you have any questions, or would like additional assistance from VEX Technical Support, please contact us at support@vex.com so we can help resolve this situation.
