With many teams using rubber band intakes, and a high amount of defence being played, there has been a lot of entanglement where one robot gets stuck in the other team’s intake. In the scenario where two teams are pushing each other and one team gets caught in the other team’s rubber band intake, who is at fault? Would they both get disabled for entanglement? or only the aggressor? Or the person who is providing the entanglement hazard? Thank you.
The robot will only get disabled if it is entangled with the net, and not with other robots.
Even in the previous games, it is not uncommon to see robots entangled with each other, and most of the time, there was no call against both robots.
The only rule that might come into play will be G12. And even then, G12 only applies if one of the robots is trying to entangle with the opponent intentionally (which is difficult to prove).
got a dq at a recent tournament. against my own team, our roller got caught in their cortex battery clips. couldnt snap the rubber band to get out, and ended up being dqed
@Shard that seems like an unfair dq to me
When it comes to entanglement, the first mind-set I believe judges should have is “Who was the one who was playing defense, or the one who is not being in a state of offense?” This will be important because referees are required to err on the side of the offensive robot in a questionable situation (<G13>). After a referee knew what was going on, they should know from the defending robots entanglement as “is it intentional?” (<G12>) If the answer is yes, a disqualification should be made(But only made if it is obvious that the robot was explicitly planning to entangle). If the answer is no, a question should occur as to if it is match affecting or not. In eliminations, If the entanglement was match affecting, which caused the alliance with the robot in the offensive state to lose, the alliance with the robot in a defensive state should get disqualified. In qualifications, if the entanglement was match affecting, which caused the alliance with the robot in the offensive state to lose, the all robots should recieve a win, and the offending team(The one who was in a defensive state during the entanglement) should get a disqualification on the match.
