Rubber bands stretching

Our catapult works fine with brand new rubber bands but then the next day it start missing the target. Comparing the rubber bands to new ones, they are stretched after 24h. We are using the non-silicone #32. Should we use silicone rubber bands? Do those stretch? I see the silicone rubber bands break here and there but not sure if they stretch.

I believe the silicone rubber bands might be more durable, but might stretch less than non-silicone. It really depends on how much the band needs to stretch. But I don’t know very much about IQ bands. Hope this helps.

Are you keeping the bands on your robot overnight?

Standard rubber bands lose elasticity over time, causing accuracy issues. Silicone bands hold their shape better but can snap under high tension. Testing both types can help find the best fit for your catapult.

we keep them on the whole time, we didn’t know we were supposed to take them off after practice

I believe that the silicone band would be better as they are more durable and I think stretchy

thanks for information

One thing my team found helpful since we also had this problem is disconnecting the rubber bands every time they are not in use.
