We were thinking of putting rubber bumper on a new slapper iteration until we realized we didn’t have any. So, what do you think we can use as a replacement. We thought of HS shaft collars with rubber bands on them, but tell us if there is a better option. Thanks!
small flex wheels, a big washer on a standoff, and uh a foam block from a field peice (i have seen this at.a competetion but dont know what it was from)
I’ve seen teams use small flex wheels, but I don’t know how well that works.
a strip of adhesive foam could work but my team found that they wear down fast in high-stress situations like on a slapper. Anti slip mat could also work if you layer it a lot but probably the best solution is cut flex wheels
My sister team uses a 2 in 30A flex wheel for their slapper. It works great and absorbs a lot of vibrations.
However, when it fires, it bounces a lot back and forth when the flex wheel hits the hard stop. This leads to a little bit of inconsistency for my sister team’s bot, though it is negligible for their score (except for the occasional triball thrown out of the arena).
