RULES QUIZ - High Stakes

This quiz was created for use of teams to help with rule memorization. The quiz is meant to be difficult, and I would appreciate any input on how to improve it. I make a quiz like this each year, and I can always use ways to make it better/more comprehensible for following years.

Example Improvement: Dividing the quiz into pages that only have questions from specific rules categories, such as “Scoring Rules” (<SC#>) or “General Game Rules” (<G#>). This occurred to me after completion, and I didn’t feel like sorting through 79 points worth of questions, so you get it as is.

I made this quiz for my team (pictured on the quiz page), with the intention of them looking up the rules in the game manual to find answers to questions they missed. The quiz will tell you which questions you missed, but not the correct answer. Most of the questions will have the rule number where the answer can be found, and the ones that don’t can mostly be found in the definitions section.

The link will take you to a page on our website. We’d appreciate it if you took the time to look around! I’m planning on adding a resources page for VEX Teams, and would include a list of YouTube Channels from various Teams.

Good Idea; I’ll might make a High-Stakes quiz for my team this year.
Most of the rules from Over Under still apply in High Stakes, so this will be a very useful tool.

Thanks!

I noticed one of the question is, “How many Rings begin on the field?” The answer according to the quiz was 48. I get it, but my first thought was 44 because I wasn’t considering the pre-loads as beginning on the field. I don’t know if there’s an official answer to this, if pre-loads begin on the field or not. I would argue not. This could very well just be an opinion thing, but it might be something to consider.

It’s 48 starting in the field without including preloads, 52 with preloads

This is not true. There are 44 on the field plus 4 preloads totaling 48. Sometimes VEX sends extra when you buy the fields, so our field came with 52. I’m not sure if they are extras to replace ones that break or just Vex’s “Cover Your Action” policy similar to how bakers provided a bakers dozen (13 loaves of bread) to ensure they didn’t short their customers.

The answer has been changed to 44. There are 48 Rings in total (Cite page 14 of the Game Manuel–“Field Overview”). 24 Red and 24 Blue. Each Alliance retains 2 of those Rings for Preloads, which are not counted as “beginning on the game field”. That specification was added to the question. Thanks for the catch!

I’m really gonna need this so that I know the wrong answers so that technically I’ll know all the right answers at the same time
