Save the USB Port

Like many other people, I’ve noticed that our younger students tend to have trouble plugging a USB Cable into the Brain for programming. At times, some can be a bit rough on the usb port and damaging it.

Making sure to keep everything student centered, we found a solution where a student can independently program their robot without damaging the robot. Our solution is to plug a small 6 inch USB extension cable into the brain, so that the student won’t plug directly into the brain but instead into a $5 cable. It turns out to be much easier for them. They get a better experience without damaging the Brain’s usb port, no matter how often they plug and unplug between each download and test.

Here’s the extension cable we’re using.
