We got some really good teams and i think we could give the math division a run for their money this year. Here are the following team in science.
Top Teams: 2A, 10A, 10D, 12A, 24C, 404, 720P, 1138B, 2915B ,there are probably a lot out there that i skipped/haven’t seen.
And 2nd place in programming skills in 2009 (would’ve won under the current rules).
Sadly that team graduated and we inherited their number. But that doesn’t mean you should count us out this year. We don’t have a NZ bot, I’ll leave it at that.
I think this might be the first time that 44 is NOT in Science.
575 has been in Science four years in a row.
This will be the first time in three years that I’m not the division manager for Science (I’m running Skills this year).
This will be the first time that the bulk of older US/Canadian teams will be mixed in with China and New Zealand teams, in all four divisions. This will be fun!
Since I have a soft spot for this division (it’s where my son played when he was in high school), I’ll just say that I don’t know if the Science Division winners will win the overall high school event, but I can say that this will be a real dogfight. Again. Good luck to everyone.
It’d be interesting to poll which teams have never missed eliminations at the world championship. 1114A had a streak of six years (including both VRC and FTC Championships in 08) until Simbotics retired the letter this year. 254A, B, and E haven’t missed one yet, but when Saturday afternoon rolls around, 44 is the modern-day king:
09: Alliance 1 Pick 1 (oh, and World Champion)
10: Alliance 1 Captain (only a World Finalist…)
11: Alliance 1 Captain (oh, and World Champion)
12: ?
I think the worst GER has done is way back in their rookie year (08) in FTC, where IIRC we were both the 4th seed in our respective divisions.
'09… not counted… because we were forced to pull out on the eve (due to SARS).
'10… cant remember what was our ranking… but were in Semi-final…
'11… 5th seed… quarter-final…
'12…??
