I like the forklift for stars because it just slides under so easily, the big claw for cubes because it can just go in and grab it really quickly, and the inverted six bar lift because it can flip everything over the fence without a separate mechanism and without dumping the stuff out on the way up.
I’m curious about why there are so many votes for other lifts.
I put all of the lifts that I can think of in. I can’t think of any design (except the peaucellier lift) that doesn’t fit into any of those categories.
Someone please prove me wrong.
Yea Im honestly curious why so many people want to devote motors to lifts other than a separate mechanism to pull the robot up the pole. I really see no advantage at all to a 6 bar or anything like that
That wasn’t exactly the point of the poll.
It was about what you though would be the most successful type of lift.
I also currently think that no lift is the best, but I still voted for basic bar / two bar, because I think that it’s the best for this year.
This was the poll that was asking if you though that lifts or catapults were better.
Edit:
I just realized that I didn’t make that clear at all in the first post
Never mind.
Having experience with worm gears, I can tell you that is too slow. On our Vex Nothing But Net Robot, our angle adjusters, powered by worm gears, put too much strain on the motors and made it really slow.
As you can see, the poll is about what type of lift linkage you’re using, not what’s powering it.
For example, there’s no option for pulley, chain, or geared, but those are the most common methods for actuating lift.
