Scoring Low Goal balls?

Low Goal Question. From the photo; what I have read on Q&A forum and the definition of the low goal. I come to the conclusion that green ball 1 is not scored, green ball 2 is scored because it touches the white line, green ball 3 is scored because it touches the white line, orange and other green ball scored clearly. Is that correct? I have conflicting opinions from other event partners and referees on the interpretation when touching the white tape. Some say the tape is the goal some believe the gray tile on the goal side of the tape starts the goal. Balls only have to touch the low goal scoring area to count, meaning they do not have to be on the goal side of the pipe? Thanks for any clarification.

I like the way you asked the question better than the way I did. If it is not clarified in the answer to your question then I will ask if the page 7 definition of Low Goal includes or excludes the area above the tape.

Great pictorial reference for your question. I hope we get a definitive answer, applied to scoring, that we can share with other people.

In this thread, a question about a robot breaking the plane <SG9>, it seems to be clear that the low goal extends from the net to the field-side of the white tape. So if any ball is touching the white tape then it is in the low goal and scored. Here is the quote…

I realize now that this post was created in the “VRC Nothing But Net” forum with no corresponding thread created in the official game rules Q&A forum. If you are looking for an official response questions regarding items from the NBN game that have not been clarified, they should be posted HERE.

Correct, not in the Q&A forum. Asking the community how their events are being scored? Several questions already on same scoring topic in the Q&A forum that did not give me an answer on how to score definitively. Forum members can’t reply to Q&A forum questions so posted in the open NBN forum.

This is the best way to handle it in my opinion. Q+A threads that duplicate previous ones are only helpful to the poster, and they require effort on the part of refs (and teams) everywhere else because we need to read each new Q+A answer in case there is new information. (I don’t like the “Thanks” / “You’re Welcome” posts either for the same reason, but I don’t think many people share my opinion on that).

The low goal starts at the side of the tape that is closer to the center of the field, so green balls 2 and 3 are scored. The thread linked by Adam (this one) is the reference. The thread is about robots entering the goal, but the manual uses the same language for the area where balls can be scored so it is the same area.

I’m not sure where refs who chose the “grey tile” answer are getting their information.
