Do y’all have any tips on making the rings go fully onto the mobile goal without getting stuck on the top? I’m currently trying for a hook design like most teams, but only some of the rings will go fully on.
Had a similar conversation with a team today - asked them to list three movements to push on a mobile goal without specifying a mechanism solution. They listed two that everyone who has a mechanism to place a ring on mobile goal stake. There are more than two.
My recommendation is to play with ring and mobile goal and see what movements work and describe them. Then evaluate the complexity of implementing a mechanism for each, ease of driver control to accomplish the task, and finally speed of executing on field… (typical factors to consider when deciding which to prototype and evaluate …)
I am impressed with the different approaches on Youtube, but these are finished products, not design opportunities.
Let us know what you discover in your process.
Add a tensioner to your chain so it forms a triangle instead of a straight line. This forces the ring to travel in a more linear fashion relative to the stake as opposed to more rotationally without the triangle shape. Hope this helps!
I saw a certain video detailing how much easier it is to put a ring on at an angle as opposed to putting it on flat. Idk if this helps but it’s smth interesting I saw.
