Scoring Rings

I confused about a specific part of Rule SC3: Rings Scored on a Stake: Each Ring can only be counted for points once, even in cases where the Ring qualifies as Scored on multiple Stakes . If multiple Stakes are encircled by the same Ring , Top Rings will not be awarded for those Stakes . Intentionally causing a Ring to be Scored on multiple Stakes will, at minimum, receive a Minor Violation ." I may be reading it completely wrong and if so, I apologize if this is a dumb question. Are they saying that if a ring is scored on a stake, and is descored, it can’t be scored again on another stake? If that’s the case, how is this even judged? How can a referee tell if a specific stake has already been scored over the course of a hectic match? If this is not what the rule is saying, can someone please clarify?

Since scoring only happens at the end of the match, Rings are not “Scored” until the match (or auton) ends.

What they are talking about is that there are edge cases where a Ring could encircle 2 Stakes. If that happens, the Ring won’t score on either Stake.

The rule only applies at the end of the match when it is scored, a ring cannot be scored on 2 stakes at the same time. This was added as a response to a Q&A where 6 rings would be considered scored on two stakes at once by having all the rings encircle both stakes. The GDC hated the abomination it created and banned it immediately.

That is not my understanding, from were I see it it is if a team managed to jam on ring onto 2 stakes at once rather that descoreing and scoring a ring. Maybe I’m wrong, hope this helps.

It means you can’t have one ring on two stakes at a time. Not sure if that’s even possible though…

Thank you! I thought the wording was a little ambiguous, but now that y’all have answered, I can see where I read it wrong.

I’m still confused on the point system

what exactly is the confusing part to you? Is it related to the singular ring on multiple stakes problem or on general game piece scoring. As far as general stakes its 1 point for each ring, 3 if it is the top or highest ring on a stake, All of it is doubled in positive, all is negative in negative.
