Hey guys, I have ADHD and one more thing (to hard to explain in a post XD) I get distracted and things and I have a hard time sometimes at big events even at my state tourament I had a kinda rough time. Any ideas how to help with this? Thanks yall have a nice day.
Noise canceling headphones can be very helpful; Wyze has a very nice noise canceling headphone that was on sale for $40 earlier this week. My ADHD/sensory sensitive kid uses their Wyze headphones all the time, especially in big gatherings where there’s tons of noise.
For noise breaks, stepping outside didn’t seem too bar, relative to inside. There were some adult relaxation rooms last year; I don’t know if your coach could contact RECF to see about accommodations for being able to utilize something like those spaces.
Thanks so much! Do you think they would bring fidgets in the convention centers and the dome?
I can’t imagine that anyone would have issue with fidgets, aside maybe from disallowing them at the fields themselves?
There is a link on the Worlds site for students with 504s/IEPs that need accommodations so if it’s a must have maybe try going that route.
Fidgets everywhere but the fields. I was with a roboteer than had a few, they would hold them until the part where as a mentor I needed to separate from them. I’d get the fidget, made sure it was securely in my pocket (cargo shorts for the win) and they got it back right after the match. Me holding it was fine and there wasn’t a possibility of pulling it out and being an issue.
or over the ear phones with your music.
I’d recommend that everybody buy a pack of the foam “squeeze and insert” ear protection. You’ll be impressed / depressed how loud it is and having the ability to cut the noise is a big deal. You can get a bag of 100 for $10, they are another good thing to fill your cargo pockets with.
Oh really? can you give me the link?
The link is on the FAQ page but here’s the direct link.
