If anybody got the June issue of SERVO yet I just wanted to let you know the Appetizer article by Andrew Horsman is mine
Can you post a scan of the article?
I just read the article, nice job. Infact I was getting on here to pm you about it but I thought you might post about it and you did. There was something very familiar about those photos of yourself in the article, you had posted them on vex a while back so I kind of remembered them.
I am thinking about writing servo for beginner pneumatics because I have a pretty good system working thats easy to build but still very powerful. I donāt know if anyone would be interested in such an article but tell me what you think.
im afraid the article is technically owned by t&l publications and doing so would be copyright infringement
well, it kinda depends, they are very nice and would be glad to publish your article, although you do need some writing skill (I havent seen any of your work so I canāt judge yet) and your article needs to appeal to your audience, i think vex pneumatics would probably attract a small percentage of the readers (again i cant say for sure so I would give the publisher a call)
also you might already but you need a social security number and there might be an age requirement (technically im 14 at the date of publication which follows legal labour)
I am not sure its considered āLaborā more like volunteer work because they are not paying you anything. As for writing the article it would be aimed towards robots in general such like parallax, homemade, vex ectā¦I am not trying to do vex only because the system I built is adaptable to almost any system capable of controlling a relay. As for my writing skills; they are ok but I will just have many people check over it. Its an idea but people would have to be interested.
yesā¦ummmā¦volunteerā¦sureā¦weāll go with thatā¦cough$100 per well written published pagecough
anyways i think it would great to talk it over with SERVO
I didnāt know they payed, I was willing to do it for free but hey if they give the $100 it goes straight to more parts which translates to more articles.
my thoughts exactly, BTW $100 per page which means you can do a 3 pg article then buy $300 dollars worth of parts build a new robot and do another article!
as a sneak peek of info, im doing a mini robot article series
but seriously, ask SERVO, do an article, see how it goes, then decide
I just got my June edition of SERVO and read your excellent article supporting the Vex forum and FIRST competitions. When I was thirteen, I mostly watched TV and worked on a paper route. I Hope to read more articles written by you in SERVO, N&V, ROBOT Magazine and Circuit Cellar.
hmmā¦never even thought of nuts/volts, robot, or circuit cellar
thats not a bad idea
oh and I do have a paper route
Your published now. It will be easer to sell your next storyā¦
:ddddddddddddddddddddddd
Good Job Andy Man.
How long did the process take from when you submitted the article until when it was published ?
You must submit an article about 2 months before, they take care of artwork (i think! might have been specially for me)
ummā¦yeaā¦its pretty easy goingā¦the people there are really nice!
I just subscribed, but started with the July Issue.
lol good choice to subscribe anyways, lots of great ideas and interesting stuff in there
