setting partner controllers

The vex cortex can’t tell which controller should receive what code. I’m wondering if there is any way to set one of the normal vexnet joystick controllers to be set as a partner remote. Or do i have to buy a remote that is already set as a partner.

Slim,

Yes, it is possible to use a standard VEXnet Joystick as a Partner Joystick. To do this follow these steps:

  1. Us a USB A-A cable to tether the “primary” VEXnet Joystick to the VEX microcontroller.

  2. Remove the A-A cable and install VEXnet Keys into the VEX microcontroller and “primary” VEXnet Joystick.

  3. If the “partner” VEXnet Joystick has a VEXnet key in it, remove the key.

  4. Use a Coiled Handset Cable (http://www.vexrobotics.com/vex/products/accessories/control/276-1602.html) to connect the “Partner” VEXnet Joystick to the “Primary” VEXnet Joystick using the “Partner” ports.

After these steps have been performed you will be able to use both joysticks to control a single robot. Remember - the robot must be programmed to be controlled by two controllers.
