Shaft collar set screw replacement

A lot of my ideas for the new competition use shaft collars to connect to plates, inspired by a passive lock I saw. I’ve read that the shaft collars use set screws with the same thread size (8-32) as the 393 motors but when I tried to replace them the screws just wiggle out or don’t screw all the way into the collar. What screws can I use to replace the given set screws?

Use the screws that fit the v5 motors.

you can use any 8-32 screw.

The set screws have regular screw size thread, but fit the smaller drivers.

So to clarify, the 393 motor screws are NOT actually 8-32?

Yes. The 393 (and rack gear) screws (the gold ones) are 6-32

A really good replacement (that seems to hold up better than even the original set screws), are the shortest stand off connectors Vex offers. In my experience, I have never had one stripped. You can also use 1/8" 8-32 screws, but they take up more space.
