I was going to preform a deformable materials analysis on the VEX shafts, except the material listed is zinc plated steel. This analysis is unfeasible without the modulus of elasticity and some other constants, but they depend on the type of steel. So I am curious, what kind of steel does VEX use for the shafts? Is it the same for the HS shafts?
DiodeTech,
All VEX EDR shafts are 1018 Steel with a minimum hardness of HRC20.
Let me know if you have any further questions,
Charles
Thank you for the info.
If I get any useful numbers out of my calculations I will post them on the forum.
