At the beginning of the autonomous period are robots allowed to shoot a cube across the field with say… a puncher, to disrupt the opposing teams autonomous?
I don’t believe so. I’ll find the rule in a minute, but you can’t use objects to do otherwise illegal actions.
But what rule would that be circumventing?
The one that makes it illegal to cross the auto line. and
<SG7> Use Cubes to play the game. Cubes may not be used to accomplish actions that would be
otherwise illegal if they were attempted by Robot mechanisms. Examples include (but are not limited
to):
• Encroaching upon an opponent’s Protected Zone per <SG3>.
• Interfering with an opponent’s Autonomous Period per <SG2>.
but can you shoot down cubes after a stack has been made?? if you dont cross the protected zone.
There’s another rule that specifically says that a team cannot cause a “scored” cube in its alliance zone or tower to become “unscored” for any reason, whether intentional or not. Forgot what the specific rule nomenclature was.
Pretty much any action that can be done with cubes is illegal unless you can also do it with your robot. Meaning that it would be more worthwhile to make your robot do those things in the first place instead of manipulating cubes.
No. Also per SG7, Cubes may not be used to accomplish actions that would be otherwise illegal if they were attempted by Robot mechanisms.
Please read the rules before asking questions.
But what about shooting cubes into neutral towers on the other side of the field? It would be hard, but, despite popular opinion, totally feasible.
And illegal if your opponent is going for those towers, or if you miss and interfere with their auto.
