After the match has started, is there any limitations on how large the robot may be, as long as it is on your side of the field??
Yes. It says so clearly in the game manual in the Robot rules.
Be mindful of R4c though.
It doesn’t have to “remain on your side of the field” either, as long as you don’t touch the tiles on the opposing side.
But you have to be really careful, because if somehow it malfunctions, and any part of your robot, attached or not, touches the tiles, it would disqualify you.
That depends on the referee. I know for a fact it’s the referee’s decision because I saw many robots lose a hold of the batteries and the batteries we’re dragging. None of these teams got a DQ…
Dragging is still attached…
Slightly different topic, but the entries into the climbing zone and shooting in NBN last year seems like a close corollary for the beyond the fence touching the other guy’s tile. Some matches had stricter levels of adherence and DQ’ing than others.
Given last year’s ruling of being pushed into the climbing zone was a DQ for the robot being dragged into the zone, it would seem to be the line of thinking. You must always be in control of your own robot and play offensively over defensively. You can always ask…
Egregious touches will probably get called more than accidental ones. I imagine a dragging a robot forcibly onto the illegal “no-touch tile” may be a strategy people may try. If your opponent decides to poke itself over to your side, and then you force their robot arm to touch the tile to get a DQ!
Kind of like that unfortunate fellow at the zoo a few months ago. Don’t stick your hand in the cage! The bear will bite!
