Skills challenge

I have an idea to propose to everyone who may be interested here on the forums. If worlds ends up being cancelled (leave that discussion to the existing thread) then, inspired by several people who have said this has been done for their region, I think it would be very cool if for the 4 days of when worlds would be everyone could submit videos of their driver and programming skills. That way we could virtually compete and enjoy the end of our seasons, even if there is no official competition to be had. I’m not suggesting for recf to run this challenge, though if they took it upon themselves to do so that would be pretty neat, I’m simply suggesting that we, as members of the forums, do this. As I said this would be IF worlds ends up being cancelled

This wouldnt work, also let offical skills scores be a guide line for the best teams in the worlds. Not some fourm where videos can be easily manipulated.

I would not be so quick to dismiss ideas from the community… There is a lot of uncertainty.

I would like to see some community defined online challenges that do not require people to gather in close quarters, but do exemplify the creative problem solving this community is capable of.

A couple of starting points, design a board game based on a past VRC game… design a new game that incorporates a time delay between the driver and robot response… These can be done by all teams without a field or robot if schools are closed.

Best!

Yeah. Maybe it wouldn’t be official(RECF can determine this) but it would be fun and something to keep people’s minds on something other than watching the news and making things worse. I say let’s do it.

just submit videos of skills runs. why not, it doesn’t even have to really be a competition tbh

Rip we don’t have a field

Not a level playing field for all the teams that do not have access to fields.

One of my teams was really excited to run their 44 point skills auto at LA on Saturday. They have been doing almost exclusively skills practice (both auto and driver) for a month now and have a pretty good driver routine as well. I think that not getting the chance to make their skills scores official is what bothers them the most.
I think they would be happy to post the videos that they have so that at least someone could appreciate their hard work.

doesn’t have to be level, just a possible way for some teams to show off their bots. if not skills reveals, make a robot reveal. share your bot with the world, may as well.
