Skills Scores

Does anybody find the Skills Challenge scores 2nd and T-3rd a little suspect since they are all from the same school and same Competition, I mean the odds for this happening are extremely long? Did anybody else notice its the same school with two different Number as well (8065 and 8066)?

Not at all. Build multiple robots, play the same game.

You could even run the same Autonomous code. We thought about doing it, but everyone wanted to do their own thing this year.

I think they did score the points and deserve to there. They probably had robots that were similar in efficiency and they probably had the same run pattern that would score the same points.

Personally, not at all. This is because I know such high scores are possible, and schools usually will build similar robots and try in robot skills to see how good their robot is.

Or they could just have identical robots and identical skills routines. That seems reasonable enough to me. This is a middle school  which has been extremely successful in the past. Those kind of skills scores from them do not surprise me. There was a thread about these teams/robots here.

I don’t doubt they are legitimate scores, I just think that they probably used either the same driver or same robot and switched plate, my school has 5 of the same robots but the skills scores even using the same run exactly is nowhere similar unless one driver uses all 5 robots.

I will say though that have high programming scores as well therefore I am sure their robots are quite cappable

Knowing only the scores is absolutely no proof of driver/plate switching. :frowning:

Never degrade a team, club, or school based on speculation.

+1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

I never degraded them I voiced a valid opinion, plus after some of the mistakes made on the programming skills scores I felt it was fair to make sure teams that don’t have a fair chance receive their fair chance.

  • In 2013 at the VEX Robotics World Championship, Teams 8065 and 8066 had 3 of the top 10 Programming Skills scores
  • In 2013 at the VEX Robotics World Championship, Teams 8065 and 8066 had 4 of the top 10 Robot Skills scores
  • In 2012 at the VEX Robotics World Championship, Teams 8065 and 8066 had 1 of the top 10 Programming Skills scores
  • In 2012 at the VEX Robotics World Championship, Teams 8065 and 8066 had 4 of the top 10 Robot Skills scores

Considering they’ve had 30% of the top 10 scores at the World Championship over the past two years, I’m not surprised at all that they’re at the top of the rankings once again.

Thank you Karthik

Hi , im from team 8065 and 8066 . Our highest score that we ever got was around 96 and T-3rd of score 85 is definitely achievable since the game has been released for 7months +++. China has already hit 103 and 85 is not a surprisingly high number .

If you would like to know more about my school achievement , please take a look.

To add on what karthik has said
We had 6 teams in the quarter finals and 4 teams proceed on to the finals for the opportunity and spirit division.

lol get destroyed

if a team looks like they are too good to be true…
that usually means they ARE that much better than everyone else

There is no rule against it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
