I have been starting my skills challenges on one of the 2 tiles by the red vertical or horizontal hang pole. But as I have been watching more videos of other teams doing skills, I saw they start in the position ready to match load. Now I’m not sure if it’s legal. Is there certain limits to where you can start skills?
According to rule RSC2, “Robots may start the Robot Skills Match on any legal Starting Tiles for either Alliance.”
That would bring us to the starting tile definition which is “One of the gray foam tiles along the edge of the field perimeter to the right of each alliance station.” This picture also displays very well where starting tiles are.
Based off this, teams are able to start contacting the match loading bar.

During the Skills period, do the other aspects of SG1 still apply, most specifically that “Not contacting any other gray foam field tiles” ?

This can be easily solved by reading the manual. In my previous post, I mentioned RSC2 which is the rules for starting a skills match. The rule clearly states that “Robots must meet all of the criteria listed in rule SG1.”
This takes us to SG1 where the rule clearly states “Not contacting any other gray foam field tiles, including the Match Load Zones.”
Please read the manual in the future before posting questions. Especially since I posted the exact rule you had to look at in a previous post.
